Mercury launches ICS tablet for Rs 6,500


The low cost 7 inch tablet weighing just 300 gram comes with 1.2 GHz processor, 512MB RAM, and Android 4.0

Kobian, a leading player in computer peripherals and tablets, has launched a new low cost 7 inch tablet, called mTab7. The tablet comes with comes with a 7 inch capacitive light touch screen with 800x480 pixel resolution and is powered a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB storage and supports 32 GB expandable memory through micro SD card.

The Android 4.0 based tablet is priced at Rs 6,500 and comes with an in-built Wi-Fi, 3G dongle support and HDMI port. The tablet weighs 300 grams and is 12mm thick.

The tablet only has a front 0.3 megapixel front camera and there is no rear camera. The tablet has a bigger built-in speaker for louder sound. The tablet comes with a 2300 mAh battery which is not very large by tablet standards.

Sushmita Das, country manager, India, Kobian said, "The price sensitive Indian market is always looking for low cost, feature rich tablets and here we introduce one in the sub 7k range. The mTab7 brings joy of tablet at low cost .The ultra-thin and light weight features allows one to carry mTab7 easily anywhere and its sleek features allow it to comfortably land in your pockets."

She further added, "We are not preloading with applications as we believe that the customer has a wide array of choices and they can download and access apps easily through the WiFi support."
