Samsung has released a firmware update for the Galaxy Note II, which enables the much anticipated split-screen multitasking feature.
Just about a couple of days back many users of the new Samsung Galaxy Note II reported the unavailability of the multi-view feature on their device. But acting swiftly on the issue, Samsung has now issued a new firmware upgrade for the Galaxy Note II that will bring the multiscreen feature to the device.
The multi-view enhances the multitasking capabilities of the Galaxy Note II, allowing users to run two apps on the screen simultaneously. This feature splits the display between two devices so that two applications can be showcased on the same screen, enhancing the multitasking in real time. The feature debuted with the Galaxy Note 10.1 (N 8000) which was launched earlier this year.
But the multi-view feature only supports a limited number of applications. For example, the feature on the Note 10.1 only supports Samsung apps. However, this update for the Galaxy Note II brings multi view support for Google apps as well like Gmail, YouTube, Chrome and Google Talk to be used along with the list of Samsung apps which already have support for the feature.
The update has been rolled out globally and will be made available region wise but there has been no timeline revealed as to where the update will be made available and when. So interested users can check their devices for the upgrade manually by accessing the settings menu followed by "About device" -> "Software update".
