CyanogenMod introduces CM Updater, drops ROM Manager

CyanogenMod team has released its own open-source ROM update solution today. Dubbed as CM Updater, it has made its debut in the CM10 nightlies released Sunday-night.

CM users will now be able to go to Settings > About to configure their own update options. The entry of CM Updater means, you will no longer find ROM Manager bundled with upcoming CM releases.

This does not mean that ROM Manager cannot be used to update CM ROMs, it’s just that you will not find it pre-installed. If you have the ROM Manager premium, you can still continue using it.

It’s worth noting that CM Updater only checks for and installs updates to CM releases. It doesn’t replace your recovery, so you’ll still need ClockWorkMod or any other custom recovery installed to use it.

There is no push support right now in CM Updater, so CM updater will automatically check for updates at user-defined intervals, and pull the update once something is available.

In other news, CM Team has started CM 10 nightlies for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and CM 9 nightlies for Sony Xperia ion.
