UC Browser announces update for Java 8.6

In an official statement, UC Browser announced an update for Java 8.6. As per the statement, the update provides a faster and more powerful download/ upload management. Users can preview images before uploading, and also enable virtual keyboard optimisation. The most significant change of the new Java 8.6 is the 'Offline Download' function using which content can be downloaded even though the phone memory has already been exhausted.

In the ‘Offline Download’ mechanism, when the user’s device storage space is insufficient, the downloaded items are stored in the UDisk. Users can open it without saving items to the local disk. It supports txt, pdf, doc, xls, ppt, umd, zip, and rar file formats. The version 8.6 for Java adds a quick entry to the download tap, allowing users access to the offline download management.

You can now preview images in UC Browser before uploading. On Java 8.6, even feature phones can display photos as previews as it provides an option of Image Preview. In addition to this, it claims that Java 8.6 also reduces the upload time with 4x uploading speed, allowing users to enjoy a smartphone-like performance on their feature phones as well.

Meanwhile, UC Browser application for Android also received an update recently to version 8.4.1. The new version, among other things offers multi-language support - English, Russian, Portuguese, French, Bahasa, and Vietnamese. The updated version of the application comes with a fix to the battery consumption bug, and fixes other swipe bug.

Recently, the company shared that the international version of UC Browser, the flagship product of UCWeb Inc. UCWeb, ranked the highest among all the applications on GetJar, the world’s largest free app store.

Interestingly, it added that there were a total of three UCWeb products in the top 20 list of the weekly statistics. UC Browser International, UC Browser Next and UC Browser Cloud. UC Browser Cloud, it turns out was published just a few days before the rating, and was listed as one of the leading applications in the tools category.

UC Browser is available for more than 3,000 different models of cell phones, from over 200 cell phone manufacturers. In addition, UC Browser is compatible with all mainstream operating systems such as Symbian, Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, Win CE, Java, MTK, and Blackberry. In June 2011, UCWeb released U3 kernel, the company’s proprietary product (similar to a car’s engine).
