Nokia launches Asha 205 in India for Rs 3,499

The Nokia Asha 205 has been launched in India. The phone has a QWERTY keyboard, and introduces a new, dedicated Facebook button, with which Nokia is targeting those who want quick access to their Facebook profile. The phone also comes with support for popular email services like Gmail and with Twitter and eBuddy Chat pre-installed.

Other key features of the Nokia Asha 205 include:
A mobile entertainment package that includes 40 free EA Games available for download, along with tens of thousands of other apps available from the Nokia Store
Nokia’s exclusive EasySwap technology that enables consumers to change SIM cards without having to turn off the device
A quoted standby time of up to 37 days with single SIM and up to 25 days with dual SIM

The Nokia Asha 205 is available in Cyan and Orange and priced at Rs 3,499. It will be available in India from December 24, 2012.

The device also takes advantage of the Nokia Xpress Internet platform, which uses Nokia’s cloud technology to reduce data consumption by up to 85 percent, helping consumers enjoy more affordable Internet access. It also features Nokia Nearby, a web app that helps consumers discover more than 7 million points of interest such as restaurants, shopping and ATM machines close to their location.

Facebook and Nokia had earlier announced a partnership with the introduction of a built-in Facebook button available on the Nokia Asha 205. This is the first Nokia phone that includes a dedicated Facebook button.

“People around the world use Facebook Mobile to connect and share with their friends,” said Kevin D’Souza, Country Growth Manager, Facebook India. “We are focused on delivering the best Facebook experience to as many people as possible and our partnership with Nokia perfectly complements our strategy of giving people around the world a rich Facebook experience for keeping in touch with their friends.”

“Young consumers are increasingly using Facebook for communication, socializing and entertainment. The launch of the Nokia Asha 205responds to this growing demand and gives a unique option for consumers at an affordable price point,” said Viral Oza, Director Marketing, Nokia India. “People who use NokiaAsha devices are hyper-social and we are proud to partner with Facebook to improve the user experience further with the introduction of the Facebook button.”

The new Nokia Asha 205 enables people to easily access the Facebook for Every Phone app and use messaging, one of its most popular features. People using the messaging features in Facebook for Every Phone can now:
