Sony Ericsson unveils Xperia arc S.

Sony Ericsson have updated their flagship Android handset with a speedier 1.4GHz processor giving it a 25 percent performance boost on average. Known as the Xperia arc S, the new droid will hit retail shelves globally in Q4 2011. No word on the pricing yet, of course but, if we were to hazard a guess, it’ll probably be priced under 30K and the existing arc may be pushed down the price bracket or discontinued.

Other than the speed bump, nothing else has changed. The 4.2-inch Reality Display is powered by their Mobile BRAVIA Engine giving you rich and vibrant colours. It would run on the latest version of Android 2.3.4 and weighs just 117g. Other features include 3D sweep panorama, touch focus, 720p video recording and integrated Facebook and Twitter applications.

The following are some of the highlights of the phone -

1.> 4.2-inch Capacitive Touchscreen with a 480 x 854 pixel resolution
2.> 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
3.> GPS with A-GPS support
4.> Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
5.> 8 Megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 720p video recording
6.> Stereo FM radio with RDS
7.> Memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card
8.> 3.5 mm handsfree socket
