Roadster: Automatically Track Your Mileage Using Your iOS Device

There are many companies that reimburse the amount of money spent on vehicle fuel by their employees. But there are a few conditions, such as the trips need to be work-related or medical-related, etc. Therefore employees who want their fuel expenses reimbursed often find themselves closely monitoring their vehicle’s odometer readings. They also find themselves marking their journeys, marking the departure and destination points for future reference.

All of this information comes in handy not only while applying for reimbursement from your company but also while filing tax returns and figuring out which receipts qualify for tax deductions. While monitoring all of this can be a hectic task for people who travel a lot, the task is made easier by a user-friendly app called Roadster.

Roadster is a smartdevice application compatible with iOS devices. The app is sized at nearly 8.5MB and it works on iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices running version 5.1 or later of iOS. The app helps you monitor your mileage automatically. This is accomplished by using your phone’s GPS to monitor the departure and destination locations of your journeys and monitoring your journey for the miles travelled. The GPS used is power-optimized and its energy consumption adjusts according to your battery level.

A real time visualization of your current trip is displayed on the map. Your log book allows edition, deletion, and merging of trips together. You can set your trips to be automatically categorized by the application. Appropriate trip recording notifications are displayed that can be disabled or enabled. The data recorded by the app can be exported to a CSV file as a spreadsheet.

Features:

  • A user-friendly phone app.
  • Compatible with iOS devices.
  • Automatically tracks mileage.
  • Uses power optimized GPS.
  • Can export data to CSV spreadsheet.
