Lava launches Iris 356, Iris 402 Android smartphones

Both the devices are priced below Rs 6,000 and offer a dual core processor and Android Jelly Bean 4.2

Lava Mobiles has launched two budget Android smartphones under its Iris series. Both the smartphones, named as Iris 356 and the Iris 402, are priced below Rs 6,000 and offer dual core processor and the Android Jelly Bean operating system.

The Lava Iris 402, priced at Rs 5,499, features a 4 inch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution. The Iris 402 is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor but has 256 MB RAM only, which we believe would not be able to justify the performance on Android Jelly Bean 4.2. Along with that it comes with a 100 MB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 32 GB via a micro SD card. It also gets a 3 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front camera as well.

The Lava Iris 356 is priced at Rs 4,499 for which it offers a 3.5 inch touchscreen with 320 x 480 pixel resolution, a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 256 MB RAM, and Android Jelly Bean 4.2. It also comes with a 100 MB of internal storage which can be future expanded up to 32 GB. Iris 356 has a 1.3 megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera as well.

Although both the phones have overall decent features for the price at which they are being offered, the duo comes with bare minimum RAM and internal storage. These devices will thus make perfect sense for those who are new to Android.
