Video calling and Voice over IP service Skype has formally introduced the new Skype Preview for the Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system. Makers of Skype, the video and voice over IP service, have formally announced a new version for the Windows Phone 8 based smartphones. The new Skype Preview app is yet to be available in the Windows Phone Marketplace. The new Skype version has been heavily optimised to support the power-packed Windows Phone 8 devices and also use least possible battery power. The official Skype Blog (http://blogs.skype.com/en/2012/11/skype_for_windows_phone_8_-_in.html) announced the availability of the Preview version of the Skype for Windows Phone 8. The new Skype Preview for the Windows Phone 8 integrates the Windows Live Messenger contacts with the Skype list on the People Hub. Besides that, the app brings modern Windows Phone 8 richness. WP8-BIG With the new Preview version, the Windows Phone 8 users can be happy about the battery life. The Skype Preview runs in the background but hosts the user's presence on the Microsoft's clouds. That means your contacts can call you any time as long as you are logged into the app and it runs in the background. You can always choose to stay invisible from your contacts as usual. The new Skype Preview also supports full screen video chat and also comes with variety of phone-like features built in. Users can initiate a chat session from the People Hub as well and can stay updated with new messages on the Live Tiles at the Start screen. The Skype Preview for Windows Phone 8 will be available in the Windows Phone Marketplace in few hours from now and can be downloaded direct on the phone. Do note that this Skype Preview app is meant only for the Windows Phone 8 running smartphones.
