Swipe launches Android Jelly Bean tab at Rs 11,500


The new Swipe Velocity tab offers a good display and fast processor that supports 3G through USB dongles.

California based Swipe, which had started its operations in India with the launch of three Android tablets back in the month of July this year, has announced another tablet called the Velocity Tab. The Swipe Velocity is an 8 inch tablet that comes with WiFi, and 3G connectivity through a data dongle. It offers some nice hardware specifications that include a 1.6 GHz dual core processor based on ARM Cortex A9 architecture.

The processor has 1 GB of RAM for faster operations and the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system, which offers many new features for Android fans. The device's 8 inch capacitive touch input display features a resolution of 1028 x 768 pixel and the unconventional size adds both utility and portability to the device. The tablet has 8 GB of internal storage, which can further be extended to another 32 GB with the use of an external memory card. The device features USB and HDMI ports that supports full HD 1080p video playback on external devices.

There is a 2 megapixel main camera that supports video recording and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video calling and low resolution video recording. The device features a 4500 mAh battery pack, which comes with a claimed 10 hours of backup. The availability of the device is still to be announced but it is expected to be available in the coming few days.
