LG Optimus L9 with 4.7-inch IPS display launched in India for Rs 22,000

In August, LG had announced the Optimus L9 belonging to its L series of smartphones. LG has now launched the handset in India for Rs 22,000.

Apart from being listed on LG’s official website, the handset is also available for purchase, in black and white colour options, from online retailer Flipkart for Rs 19,990. However, it is currently out of stock on Flipkart.

Towards the end of August, LG had announced that following the successful launches of the Optimus L3, Optimus L5, and Optimus L7 earlier this year, it would soon launch the Optimus L9.

The Optimus L9 has a 9.1mm thin body with a slim metallic streak and modern square style. Featuring a 4.7-inch IPS display, the Optimus L9 offers clear and true-to-life images with detail. The 2,150mAh SiO+ battery allows users to enjoy the various new UX features for long periods of time. The handset is equipped with 1GB of RAM.

Here is a quick look at some of the major features of the LG Optimus L9:
4.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 960 x 540
1GHz dual-core processor
5MP rear camera along with VGA front-facing camera
4GB e-MMC with 1GB DDR2 RAM
DLNA, QMemo, QTranslator function, My Style Keyboard function

The Optimus L9 was also developed to be a smarter smartphone through LG’s differentiated UX features, such as the QTranslator and My Style Keypad function along with the popular QMemo.

The QTranslator function translates not only words, but also entire sentences and phrases with a simple scan from nearly 44 foreign languages to 64 user languages. Using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, it recognises letters upon scanning with the camera and utilises electronic dictionary or online translation engine to translate words, sentences, or phrases.

The My Style Keypad function adjusts the key formation of the keypad according to whether the user is texting with one hand (right or left-handed) or two hands. The Optimus L9 will also include the QMemo, allowing users to capture, memo, and share their ideas using their fingertip or handwriting.

“The Optimus L9 is a great smartphone that appeals to every consumer,” said Dr Jongseok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile Communications. “LG will continue to offer differentiated value through the Optimus L9 and strengthen our position in the smartphone market.”

Over the last few months, LG has introduced a couple of handsets that can rival the best in the world and the most notable ones are the LG Optimus G and the latest Google flagship, the Nexus 4.
