Microsoft is working on a new social search service.

Tulalip is the name of a new Microsoft project – the company tries to enter the social networking world with a Social Search type service, useful for quickly finding relevant information within social networks.

In the description given by Microsoft, words Find and Share were highlighted, thus showing that Tulalip service can be used both to find and distribute information.

The service is implemented using the search engine Bing and will allow initiation of searches within the Facebook and Twitter social networks.

Apparently, the disclosure of the Tulalip was accidental, as the project is still at an early stage of development. The company withdrew shortly aftew the banner displayed on the website socl.com. now it shows like

Thanks for stopping by.
Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn't mean to, honest.
