Have you ever wanted to have a wallpaper that changes depending on your location? There’s a few that change depending on your current time, but barely any that work based on your location. If you move around a lot with your Mac computer, have you ever wanted to see what the area looks like? Satellite Eyes is a small Mac application that does the job.
Satellite Eyes works by using your WiFi and an Internet connection to triangulate your current location. It successfully achieves this by looking at a list of WiFi access point locations maintained by Apple. Once the application knows your location, it will set your wallpaper to a top-down view of where you are. If you are lucky enough to be traveling about in a multi-monitor setup, Satellite Eyes will pull more images to span across all of them.
You can also choose different map styles, including an “abstract watercolors” style. The app pulls its map information from OpenStreetMap, Stamen Design, and Bing Maps.
