Lava launches 1 GHz tablet with ICS for Rs 5,499

Strangely, the older version of the tablet has identical features and is priced even less.

Lava has silently introduced a new version of its eTab, a 7 inch tablet. The new tablet has been named as Lava eTab Z7H+. However, the new tablet has nothing much to offer than its predecessor. On the contrary, the new tablet comes with slower processor.

Like the older Lava eTab Z7H, the new tablet has a 7 inch display with 800x480 resolution, 350 grams weight, 2800 mAH battery, 4 GB internal memory, 512 MB DDR3 RAM, and a front facing 0.3 megapixel camera.

Strangely, the new tablet comes with a 1Ghz Cortex A8 processor while the older eTab has a 1.2 GHz unit. This might have been done to improve stability. The improvement comes in terms of refreshed content on the tablet; the tablet comes pre-loaded with newer movies and 14 books from Mcgraw Hill. You also get free streaming of six movies from Hungama.com.

However, content update does not merit a new version that too when you are just putting newer movie.

The tablet is available Rs 5,499 while the older version is available for Rs 5,000. Given that the offer on the tablet is almost identical and the older one gets slightly faster processor at a cheaper price, we think the older one makes more sense.
