Acer’s rumoured Iconia B1 coming to India this month for INR 7,999: Report

We have already told you about Acer’s plans to launch a $99 Jelly Bean tablet at Consumer Electronics Show this month. The tablet has also been confirmed by Wall Street Journal sources, which also revealed that the tablet will be targeted to emerging market like India.

Dubbed as Iconia B1, the tablet will come with a 7-inch 1024x600p display and 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek processor.

Now, NDTV Gadgets is reporting that Iconia B1 might not take that long to reach Indian shores. Citing sources close to the matter, the website suggests that this low-cost tablet will carry the price-tag of INR 7,999 in the country.

Given the current crop of budget Android tablets in the country, this pricing certainly looks decent but a lot will matter on how the company markets the device in India. Acer hasn’t really been successful in both smartphone and tablet markets and it is now jumping to grab a pie out of growing budget tablet market.

We expect to know more about the same at the company’s CES press event.
