After Google Maps, YouTube also leaves iOS 6

YouTube will not come as a part of the iOS6 owing to the expiration of the license with Google.

Earlier this year Apple revealed that it will be doing away with the Google Maps due to the adoption of Apple's very own homegrown maps in the upcoming iOS 6. But following the release of the iOS 6 beta to the developers, it has been noticed that not just Google Maps but the YouTube application that has always been there for iOS will also be missing from the final version of the operating system.

Apple has cited "expiration of license with Google" as a reason for this step. In a statement sent out by Apple, the iPhone maker said, "Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store."

But this will only affect the new iOS 6 while older devices running the iOS 5 will continue to enjoy the benefits of the integrated YouTube app going forward.

But not all hope is lost as Apple iOS 6 users will be getting the YouTube services as a part of the standalone application that will be made available for the users soon after the launch. In a statement given to The Verge, a Google spokesperson confirmed saying, "We are working with Apple to ensure we have the best possible YouTube experience for iOS users."
