LG Optimus Vu coming to India in September

It is the first ever Android smartphone to feature a 5 inch display with 4:3 aspect ratio.

Korean consumer electronics and smartphone manufacturer, LG has announced the launch of its first ever 5 inch display based LG Optimus Vu with 4:3 aspect ratio for the international markets. The phone will be making its debut in select markets in Europe, Asia, Middle East/Africa and Latin America in September. LG fans in India can also expect the device to be made available in the country next month onwards with a price tag of Rs 35,000 and above.

The 5 inch display based Optimus Vu smartphone was announced during last year's Mobile World Congress. The phone offers an unconventional display aspect ratio of 4:3 which will be much more beneficial for users in terms of entertainment and taking notes. That is why LG is also offering a capacitive touch screen stylus with the Optimus Vu as well just like the Samsung Galaxy Note.

The LG Optimus Vu has a 5-inch IPS display that sports a resolution of 1024x786 with a 4:3 aspect ratio. As opposed to the previously expected 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, the Optimus Vu features a 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 which has basically four processing cores and one battery managing core. Besides, it has 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage as well.

The Optimus Vu features an 8 megapixel rear camera, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing cameras and an HDMI port as well for easy connectivity with bigger screen devices. The device also has a 2080 mAh battery and will run on Google's Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system which is expected to be upgraded to the Android Jelly Bean operating system later on.

Now the success of this unconventional device depends on its pricing which has not been disclosed yet but LG is expected to price it around Rs 35,000. It will only be made available in the month of September, and LG probably announced the price of Optimus Vu just weeks before the retail availability of the device.
