Intex launches Android smartphone for Rs 5,490


The new Intex Aqua 4.0 has a 3.5-inch display, 800 GHz processor, 3 megapixel rear camera, and a VGA front camera.

Intex has launched its first Android smartphone, called Aqua 4.0, in India. It comes with a 3.5 inch screen, 800 mHz processor and is priced at Rs 5,490.

The dual SIM Intex Aqua 4.0's 3.5-inch display boasts 2 point touch input and a resolution of 480x320 pixels. It runs on a 800 GHz processor and has 512 MB of ROM. The device comes with 131 MB built-in storage, which is expandable up to 32 GB via a micro SD card. The device also has a rear-facing 3 megapixel camera and a front-facing 0.3 megapixel camera.

The handset is equipped with three sensors - Gravity, Light and Proximity. For connectivity, Intex Aqua has WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 A2DP and 3G with speeds up to 7.2 Mbps.

Intex Aqua 4.0 comes with English and Hindi support and offers features like FM radio, music player, sound recorder, push mail, video capture, mobile tracker, calendar, notes, alarm, calculator, traffic monitor etc.

The phone has a 1400 mAh battery with claimed talktime of upto 3 hours and a standby of up to 140 hours. The phone is available in black and white colours. Intex is also planning to launch a 5 Android phones priced between Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 in the next one month.
"Spurred by the market demand, Intex is planning to launch 5 new models of smartphones in the next few months," Sanjay Kumar, general manager - mobile business of Intex, has also announced while launching Aqua 4.0.

While there are many phones in this category most of them are missing on key features like Proximity sensor and front camera. However all will depend on how stable the performance of this phone is.
