BBM for Android coming “within days”

BlackBerry’s chief marketing officer Frank Boulben has told Reuters in an interview that his company will finally be releasing BBM for Android application “within days,” after the proposed roll-out was suspended earlier.

He added that that Blackberry has fixed issues that arose after the initial cross-platform launch of the messaging service last month.

Earlier, a beta version of BlackBerry Messenger app, which was leaked online, was installed by around a million users and created technical problems for the company and it had to stop the proposed stable version release.

The delay in the release of first cross-platform versions of BBM has not only been harmful for BlackBerry but also its partner companies like Samsung and Micromax, which had been advertising the release of BBM for Android on their smartphones for a long time. Micromax even had television and print ad campaigns ready and they went live on September 22, a day after the supposed BBM for Android launch date but BBM for nowhere to be seen.

We hope this time around the release of BBM for Android goes without any problems.
