Idea launches Ultra Android phone with 5-inch display for INR 10,500

Telecom operator Idea Cellular has announced the launch of a new self-branded Android smartphone in the country today. Dubbed as Idea Ultra, the smartphone has been priced at INR 10,500 and comes with 5-inch display.

The phone also packs 8MP rear camera, dual-SIM support, 2000 mAh battery and Android 4.1.2. In addition, Idea Ultra features 1.2GHz quad-core processor and the usual connectivity options.

“The true potential of mobile broadband can be unleashed only with the development of the entire ecosystem. Keeping this in mind, Idea has been actively focused at offering affordable 3G smartphones with high-end features, in addition to rapidly growing 3G network and product portfolio, to ensure that Idea users enjoy the best 3G experience. We are now encouraged to venture into the 12.7cm (5”) category Smartphone with ULTRA, which is targeted at the evolving and experimental, young Indian consumers, for whom the smartphone is increasingly becoming an integral part of their lives,” said Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular.

Idea Ultra is the 12th 3G smartphone from the telecom operator in the last two years. It is now available via Idea retail and service outlets across major 3G markets – Maharashtra & Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Gujarat, UP West & East, and Haryana.

Data offer: Idea Ultra buyers will get 3GB 3G Internet & Free Idea TV for 3 months with an Ultra specific pack priced around INR 259 – Rs.261 (depending on telecom circle).
