Amazon.com begins shipping Chromecast internationally, order now from India

Amazon.com has silently started taking Chromecast orders from users around the globe. We just checked and can confirm that you can easily place an order for Chromecast, sitting here in India, using AmazonGlobal shipping. It is the same shipping method, which Amazon used to ship Kindle e-readers to India, before Amazon.in was launched.

The folks at Ausdroid and Android Central have been able to confirm that the same is working for Australia and UK consumers too. It looks like Amazon.com will ship Chromecast to any of the AmazonGlobal Export Countries (over 65 in total). You can find the full list here.

The import and shipping costs vary country to country but here is an idea of how much of shipping and import costs you can expect while ordering Chromecast from India. Add $35 more for the Chromecast cost.

AmazonGlobal Standard Shipping: Around INR 1,200
AmazonGlobal Expedited Shipping: Around INR 1,800
AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping: Around INR 3,200
To remind you, Chromecast is a media streaming dongle from Google, which runs on stripped down version of Android and Chrome. You can plug it into any HDTV and control it with your existing smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

On an important note, the Chromecast app, which is used to setup Chromecast is still available only for US users via Google Play, if you order Chromecast from India or any other Amazon supported countries, you will have find the app APK and then install it.

We are still waiting for an official announcement from Google or Amazon regarding this international availability and will update the post as soon as we hear something.
