Samsung is reportedly planning to launch an Android-powered flip phone in South Korea, which will pack a numeric keypad. Dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Folder (SHV-E400S/SHV-E400K), the phone will be running on Android 4.2.
To remind you, this is not the first Android flip phone from the company, Samsung had earlier released SCH-W999 flip phone (image above) with numeric keypad in the Chinese market back in December 2011.
The upcoming Galaxy Folder smartphone is rumoured to be featuring WVGA display of unknown size, dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, and LTE support. It is expected to be released on all three major Korean telecom operators – KT, SKT, and LG U+ – next month.
Other details about the phone are unclear at this moment but it is likely that Samsung will market it as an entry-level device with aggressive pricing. While, it might have turned out to be a hit in Japan, where flip phones are pretty popular and the market already consists of several Android-powered flip smartphones, we are not too sure about South Korea.
There is no word on an international debut as it is very likely that we will never it outside Korea (or possibly Japan).
