ZTE launches six self-branded Android phones, priced starting INR 5,799

ZTE today announced the launch of six Android smartphones in the Indian market. Part of the company’s Blade, Grand and Kis series, these smartphones are the first self-branded smartphones from this Chinese telecom giant in the country.

According to a press release issued by the company, these smartphones will be available in the coming days.

“ZTE enjoys a customer base of over 32 million Indian handset users. With the initial launch of six devices priced between Rs 5,000 and Rs 15,000, we will build further on our handset portfolio in the months to come. By the year end, we aim to have our pan India presence with the smartphones and data cards,” said Xu Dejun, CEO, ZTE India.

Here is a look at the newly launched ZTE Android phones:

ZTE Grand X Quad Lite: Dual-SIM support, 5-inch qHD display, Android 4.2 and 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The phone also packs 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, 2500 mAh battery and 5-megapixel rear camera.

Price: INR 14,999

ZTE Blade G2: The phone features 4.5-inch FWGVA display, Android 4.1 and 1GHz quad-core processor with 512MB of RAM. The phone also packs 4GB of internal storage, and 5-megapixel rear camera.

Price: INR 11,599

ZTE Blade L: 4.7-inch WVGA display, Android 4.0, and 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM. It also comes with 4GB of internal memory, 5-megapixel rear camera and the usual set of connectivity options.

Price: INR 12,599

ZTE Blade C: 4-inch WVGA display, Android 4.1, 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. The phone also comes with 4GB of internal storage, 3-megapixel rear camera and 2000mAh battery.

Price: INR 7,599

ZTE Blade E: Android 4.1, 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 4.5-inch IPS FWVGA display. The smartphone also packs 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 5-megapixel rear camera and the usual connectivity options.

Price: INR 11,999

ZTE Kis Flex: 3.5-inch QVGA display, Android 2.3 and 1GHz processor with 256MB of RAM. It phone also features 512MB of internal storage, 2-megapixel rear camera and 1200mAh battery.

Price: INR 5,799

Overall, while ZTE has released a nice mix of Android phones, the pricing of the devices seems to be on the higher side. Considering there is hardly any brand value for ZTE in India, they should have gone with aggressive pricing in order to attract customers.
