SamMobile is reporting that Samsung is planning to launch two ‘Galaxy Mega’ smartphones this year. Apparently the Korean manufacturer has decided to name its upcoming giant-screen phone as Galaxy Mega, which will join company’s Note-series in the battle for phablets.
According to the report, Samsung will introduce 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch display phones in this Mega series and the 5.8-inch GT-9152 is likely to support dual-SIM connectivity. There seems to be no information about 6.3-inch GT-I9200 dual-SIM version.
SamMobile adds that Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 will be sold in white colour and will be available around week 22 (May 27 – June 2), while Galaxy Mega 6.3 will come in both black and white colours around the week 25 (June 17- June 23).
After the failed attempt by Dell with 5-inch Streak, it was Samsung that started the trend of super-large screen smartphones with original Galaxy Note, which was later joined by Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Grand and now the company seems to be taking it to a new level. It remains to be seen whether consumers will indeed be interested in smartphone with a display as large as 6.3-inches.
