Panasonic launches two tough tablets

The Toughpad from Panasonic offers great functionality and a sturdy design for handling extreme conditions.

Japanese consumer electronics brand, Panasonic, has launched two new tablets under its Toughpad series. While the new Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 is based on Windows 8 operating system, the Panasonic Toughpad JT-B1 comes with Android operating system.

The Toughpad series of tablets are meant for users working in industries with extreme conditions such as military, healthcare, automotive, aviation, telecom, public safety, construction utility, retail, and manufacturing just to name a few. Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 and Panasonic Toughpad JT-B1 are priced at Rs 1.75 lakh and Rs 69,000 respectively.

The Toughpad FZ-G1 comes with a 10 inch touchscreen with 1920x1200 pixel resolution and is powered by Windows 8 operating system. It comes with 10 point aware multitouch system as well as a bundled stylus for easy utility. The Toughpad FZ-G1 runs on a 2.9 GHz Intel i5 processor and 4 GB RAM.

The Toughpad FZ-G1 is IP65 (Ingress Progression) certified, which means that it is not only water and dust resistant but it can also withstand even drops from a height of 120 cm. It has an HDMI, USB and 3.5 mm earphone jacks, all secured under a water resistant flap to protect internals form water damage. The Toughpad FZ-G1 is 3G capable for data connectivity and weighs 1.1 kg. The integrated battery is rated to last for eight hours between charges.

The Panasonic Toughpad JT-B1 is an Android based tablet that runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The Toucghpad JT_B1 is a fully rugged Android tablet that has a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core TI OMAP chipset, with 1 GB RAM. The Panasonic Toughpad JT-B1 is also IP 65 certified and can bear the impact of fall from 150cm height. The Panasonic Toughpad JT-B1 has a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while a 1.3 megapixel unit is in the front. The Toughpad JT-B1 battery can last up to 8 hours between charges, claimed Panasonic.
