Nokia Asha 308, Asha 309 unveiled


Both the phones are likely to come to India by year end for a price of around Rs 6,000.

Finnish mobile device manufacturer, Nokia has announced the global debut of two new Asha series smartphones, the Nokia Asha 308 and Asha 309. Both the smart feature phones come with a full touchscreen experience on the Asha operating system which has recently been seen on the Asha 311 and Asha 305 feature phones as well.

The Nokia Asha 308 comes with dual SIM, 2G network connectivity while the Asha 309 has a single SIM 2G network connectivity along with WiFi for data connectivity.

The Asha 308 and 309 are equipped with a 3 inch display with 240 x 400 pixel resolution and a proximity sensor which automatically controls the display while the user is on a call. The devices support up to 32 GB expandable memory and feature 128 MB of internal memory which is further complimented by its 64 MB RAM memory.

Both the Asha 308 and Asha 309 come with a 2 megapixel fixed focus digital camera with zoom and capability tp capture videos at 15 FPS (frames per second) in QICF resolution. There's a video player, music player, and FM radio as well on the devices to keep the users entertained while on the move.

On the connectivity front, both the devices get options like GPRS, Edge, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity while the Asha 309 has additional WiFi connectivity as well.

"Our innovative Asha Touch family of devices is designed for people who want a great smartphone experience with lower running costs," said Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia.

The phones are priced at $99 plus (Rs 5,00o approx.) duties and taxes so while being launched in India the devices are expected to be priced around Rs 6,000.

Both the Asha 308 and Asha 309 also come with pre-installed Nokia Xpress Browser which, as per the company, is 90 per cent more efficient than other mobile browsers.

Also users will get a complimentary gift of 40 popular EA games for the device which can be downloaded free of cost and enjoyed on both these devices.

The Asha 308 and Asha 309 are expected to start shipping to various markets globally beginning October this year and following that more details about the pricing and availability in India will be stated towards the end of this year.
