HTC making next nexus – Nexus 5 with 5-inch 1080p display, S4 Pro quad-core

We all have been waiting for an HTC Nexus smartphone since Nexus One and it seems our wish will finally come true, as the latest rumour suggests that HTC’s leaked DIx is the base of next Nexus smartphone. The next Nexus phone is going to be known as Nexus 5, for the 5-inch display on-board.

It has been quite some time since the launch of Samsung Galaxy Nexus and time for a new Nexus smartphone is almost here. Galaxy Nexus was announced on October 19, so we can expect the Nexus announcement around the same time.

Will HTC be making the next Nexus phone?

Well, we have seen last two Nexus smartphones from Samsung and expectedly Google will not want to make Nexus smartphones – a Samsung exclusive. It is high time that some other manufacturer took a chance at making Nexus smartphone.

HTC already has the experience of making first Nexus phone – Nexus One. So, unless Google really want to choose LG or Sony, HTC seems like a decent choice – given HTC’s work in One X, we sure want Google to go for HTC.

There is another rumour, which came around a few months ago, that Google is going for multiple Nexus smartphones this year. In that case, an HTC made Nexus is more than plausible along with devices from Samsung, LG and Sony. But, that would a little problematic for all the manufacturers, given that they all will be fighting in the market for consumers without any major differences in the devices.

See, Software customisations give manufacturers an opportunity to make their devices distinct, but as Nexus phones have stock Android, multiple Nexus phones will same software and just a little different hardware won’t make sense. Unless Google has thought something on totally different lines, we don’t see it happening.

What will come in HTC DIx or Google Nexus 5?

According to previous reports and the latest one in GSMArena, Nexus 5 will come with Android 4.1.2, 5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm’s S4 Pro quad-core processor, 12MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 2500 mAh battery and LTE connectivity.

Woah, if true this is going is to be hell of a Nexus smartphone.

Well, there is no way to authenticate this rumour, so take it with a pinch of salt.
