There is no value pack or ICS update for Galaxy S, says Samsung (Update)

The Samsung Galaxy S ICS update saga does not seem to be ending on a happy note here. After a lot of drama and rumors, Samsung has told TNW today that there is no value pack or official ICS update in making for Galaxy S users.

All this started with Samsung’s official statement on December 24 that it is not providing Android 4.0 update for Galaxy S or Galaxy Tab, which was followed by a report from Korea that company has retracted from its statement and is now trying to bring ICS to the phone. Then, we saw another report from Korea suggesting that Samsung was looking to pass on a value pack update rather than the full ICS update.

Which brings us to today; apparently Samsung has told The Next Web thatit has “no plans” to deliver a special Gingerbread update and that the ”situation remains the same as before Christmas in that there won’t be any form of Ice Cream Sandwich for those devices”.

In plain words, there is no good news for Galaxy S users, they are screwed and if they want ICS, they should start following CM9 development for the phone.

Update: Another comment from the company (via BI):

A full update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the GALAXY Tab(7-inch) and GALAXY S is not practicable due to hardware limitations.
