Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is official, available beginning Sep 25

Samsung on Wednesday announced the new Galaxy Note 3 smartphone at a press event in Berlin. As expected, the new smartphone, which succeeds Galaxy Note II, comes with some pretty impressive set of specifications and features.

According to Samsung CEO and President JK Shin, who took the stage at Samsung Unpacked event today, the new smartphone will be available beginning September 25 in 149 countries and it will be going sale in rest of the world next month.

“Samsung GALAXY Note 3 is a powerful, original approach that enables users to tell the stories of their lives through dynamic and seamless expressions of their passions across work, play and life experiences. With a simple click of the S Pen button, users can unlock opportunities for self-expression, features that transform everyday activities into extraordinary events and access to new experiences delivered to them on Note 3’s larger screen,” said JK Shin.

Coming to the Galaxy Note 3, this phablet runs on Android 4.3 and packs a 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display. It is powered by 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor (LTE model) and 1.9GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor (3G model). Check out the full specifications later in the post.

On the design front, the company has kept the front of the phone in line with its other devices but the back of the phone, which is still plastic, is covered with faux-leather finish. Although the device comes with a bigger display than previous iteration, the handset itself remains the same size because of the smaller bezel around the display.

Like all other Galaxy Note-series devices, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 also comes with stylus but it has been improved for Note 3. Samsung still calls it S-Pen but it is better than the previous version.

“The advanced S Pen is designed to be fully functional as a communication driver between the phone and the user by creating essential input and control features. It plays an integral role in how users interface with the device, making all daily routines easier,” the company noted in the press release.

Samsung has also included many other software customisations on the device like the pre-loaded security software Knox. Among other important features, Galaxy Note 3, like the recently announced Acer Liquid S2, can record 4K resolution video.

The pricing details of Note 3 are still a mystery and most likely will be announced at the local release events of the device.
