ZTE Open: First commercial Firefox OS phone goes on sale tomorrow for $90

Telecom operator Telefonica has announced that the first commercial Firefox OS phone ZTE Open will go on sale tomorrow in Spain. The phone will be sold on its Movistar network and will cost just 69 euros ($90).

The telecom operator is also bundling a pre-pay balance of 30 euros with every unit along with a 4GB microSD card slot. The smartphone will also be available with contracts starting just 2.38 euros per month.

Packing a 3.5-inch HVGA display, ZTE Open comes with 256MB of RAM, 512MB of internal storage, and 3.2MP rear camera. Other specs include Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi, aGPS and 1200mAH battery.

The phone might look very cheap but the specs are also not rock-star, one can always get an Android device with similar specs and same or better pricing but if you are just trying to get a feel of Firefox OS phones, it seems like a right fit.

Telefonica will release ZTE Open in Venezuela and Colombia in the coming weeks.
