Samsung to launch Galaxy S4 variant with faster data download speed

Samsung has confirmed that it plans to sell a variant of its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone with LTE-Advanced that supports much faster data download speeds.

The company CEO JK Shin told Reuters today that this LTE-Advanced version will be launched in South Korea this month and Samsung was in talks with telecom operators in other countries too.

“We’ll be the first with the commercial launch of the advanced 4G version of the smartphone,” Shin said.

LTE-Advanced, which is being used in the new Galaxy S4, is an upgrade over the normal LTE and support twice the data transmission speed of LTE.  For example, a movie download, which would take 3 minutes on normal 4G, will be completed in slightly more than a minute on LTE-Advanced.

Samsung also stated that the sales of Galaxy S4 were going stronger and it was selling far better than Galaxy S III smartphone. The company also revealed that its tablet sales jumped more than 3.3 per cent since it opened its branded shops in select Best Buy stores in US.
