Kindle Fire HD, Fire HD 8.9 now available in India

Kindle Fire HD is priced at Rs 15,999 and Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is priced at Rs 21,999.

Amazon has made available its 7-inch Kindle Fire HD and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD in India, priced at Rs 15,999 and Rs 21,999 respectively. The tablets are available through Amazon.in.

The 7-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet features an In-plane Switching(IPS) HD LCD touchscreen display with 1280x800 pixel resolution. The screen offers 215.6 pixel per inch density.

Amazon has also added Advanced True Wide polarizing filter and has a custom laminated touch sensor on the display for 25 per cent less glare. For faster downloads, the Kindle Fire HD features dual-band and dual-antenna comprising WiFi chip that supports multiple-input multiple-output technology for 40 per cent speed boost.

The 7-inch Kindle Fire HD is 0.4-inch thick and houses a dual-core 1.2 GHz TI OMAP 4460 mobile processor along with 1 GB RAM. This tablet still uses a custom version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Amazon has packed dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio technology for best possible audio experience. The Kindle Fire HD comes in 16 GB and 32 GB on-board storage options and will have a front facing camera capable of supporting front-facing Skype video calls in HD resolution.

The other tablet - the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet comes with 8.9-inch touchscreen display supporting 1920x1200 pixel resolution. This display carries same qualities found in the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet. The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD is slightly thinner than the 7 inch variant, with a thickness of 0.35-inch.

It houses a dual-core TI OMAP 4470 mobile processor and 1 GB RAM. Even this tablet runs modified version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Better quality audio is promised with the dual-stereo speakers powered by Dolby Digital Plus audio technology.

The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD will be offered in the WiFi only version with 16 GB and 32 GB on-board storage options. Amazon will also offer WiFi+4G LTE versions with 32 GB and 64 GB on-board storage.

Both tablets have free cloud storage access for storing Amazon offered content. For web browsing, these new tablets use Cloud-accelerated web browser - Amazon Silk.

Amazon has priced both the tablets well and will compete with iPad Mini (in case of 8.9 inch version) and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 in case of 7 inch version. And given the attraction of lot of contents and a modified operating system which has got lot of fans the tablets look attractive.
