Jivi 2010 mobile with SOS button launched for Rs 1,699

The SOS button can be pressed to alert others in case of a distress.

Jivi Mobiles has announced a new mobile phone, called Jivi 2010, keeping the security needs of females in mind. The phone comes with a SOS button that could help women raise an alarm in times of distress.

Jitendra Rahi, executive director, Conplex International, the Hong Kong based business conglomerate that owns the Jivi brand, through its fully owned Indian subsidiary Magicon Impex, said, "The SOS phone for women demonstrates our market sensitivity. We believe in delivering feature rich products that are an absolute value for money."

CP Batheja, chief managing director, Magicon Impex added, "Considering the unsafe environment and the life in the city fraught with unfortunate eventualities, we have introduced a special utility feature - the SOS button - in the new Jivi 2010. There are a lot of women who work till late or in less inhabited areas, children who go out for tuition classes besides senior citizens living alone. We are proud to be of significance to society."

"The SOS feature is very simple to operate. In case of any emergency or eventuality, user needs to long-press the SOS button and the phone starts calling 5 pre-defined numbers one by one. In case any of the numbers is busy or does not take the call, a SMS message is sent to it. After this, the phone dials other numbers on the pre-defined list - thereby ensuring much needed help. The phone can be of great use for elderly and children as well," the company further said in a press release.

Jivi 2010 is a dual SIM dual standby bar phone with a 2.4 inch display. This mobile phone comes equipped with music player (supports MP3, MP4, AVI or 3GP format), FM radio with recording feature, and 3.5 mm universal audio jack for entertainment.

Besides, the Jivi 2010 has Bluetooth as well as GPRS connectivity to enable users to connect to Internet. It has a Mobile Tracker software that would send an SMS alert to a pre-defined set of mobile numbers when someone changes the SIM in the phone. The phone also comes with folder locker facility.

Jivi 2010 also comes with auto call recording feature, micro USB port, 32 GB micro SD card slot, and Hungama WAP Launcher.

It is available for Rs 1,699 and comes in three colours - white, red and black. It can be purchased online on the following e-commerce portals - infibeam.com, gadgets.in, ebay.in, shopclues.com, and Tradus.com.
