HCL ME Connect 2G 2.0 calling tablet launched for Rs 8,499

It has a 1 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM and Android Jelly Bean operating system.

HCL has launched a new calling tablet, called ME Connect 2G 2.0. The tablet offers 2G voice-calling and is priced at Rs 8,499.

The 7 inch screen of the tablet has 800x480 pixel resolution. HCL ME Connect 2G 2.0 is powered by a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and 1 GB DDR3 RAM. There is 4 GB internal memory which is expandable to 32 GB. The tablet runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system. The tablet has a 2 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera. The tablet has also support (reading and writing) for 11 local Indian languages, according to HCL.

As per HCL, the ME Connect 2G 2.0 comes with freebies worth more than Rs 2,000 but it is not clear what sort of things HCL is offering with the tablet. For connectivity, it has mini-HDMI port, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n). Besides, you can use a USB data card (WCDMA/EVDO) for 3G internet access.

The ME Connect 2G 2.0 phablet will cater to the young at heart who are always on a lookout for something new and exciting”

Notably, according to HCL, the ME Connect 2G 2.0 comes pre-loaded with one mobile store which has more than 3,00,000 apps to download but it has not cleared whether it is the Google Play store or HCL's own app store.
