Instagram app gets photo tagging feature

Instagram has introduced new 'Photos of You' feature in the official apps for the Android and iOS platforms.

Image-centered social network, Instagram has introduced yet another feature which mimics the one already present in Facebook. The new Photos of You feature allows the user to tag friends in the image uploaded and shared over the timeline. The updated version of the Instagram app is already available for the Google Android and Apple iOS platforms.

Instagram as a social network enables the users to capture images, add filters and then share it. In past, Instagram had added geo-tagging capability to the photos for the users who wish to add location to the photos.

There is a simple option of "Add People" to tag the users in the photo. Just like sharing controls rest with the user, the tagging control also rest with the same user. No one else can tag anyone in someone else's image. The name tag can be added anywhere on the photo and not just on the face of the user.

Apart from that, the image quality of the uploaded photos has been improved for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and higher updates.

The Instagram app 3.5 version can be downloaded from the Apple App store for iOS and Google Play store for Android devices.
