The phone has a 5 inch HD display, 8 GB/16 GB inbuilt memory and 1 GB of RAM, making it one of the best options in the market in its price range.
Chinese handset vendor, UMI has announced a new quad core processor based phone, called UMI S1, for Rs 12,000. The phone is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and has a 5 inch display with 1280x720p resolution.
The phone uses Mediatek MT6589 chipset with 1.2 GHz quad core processor and 1 GB RAM. The UMI S1 comes in 8 GB and 16 GB internal memory versions as well. The dual SIM phone also has an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera and 2 megapixel front camera.
For connectivity, the Android smartphone comes with 3G, WiFi, and GPS functionality. Sadly, it has Bluetooth 2.1 when most of the current handsets come with Bluetooth 4.0. There is no HDMI output but UMI S1 has anyway G-sensor, light sensor, and proximity sensor.
The UMI S1 comes with a 2020 mAH lithium polymer battery with claimed 4 hours of talktime, which anyway is not exciting. The phone, which comes with Hindi language support, is 9.7 mm thick and weighs 187 grams which is neither super thin nor lightweight but is just about all right.
Though the UMI S1 has an older Bluetooth version as well as a poor battery, its price makes it an attractive option. However, sales and distribution of UMI is still a work in progress and this may hamper the sales of the phone.
