Lumia 620 available now at Nokia e-store for Rs 14,999

Nokia’s much-awaited Lumia 620 is up for sale at the company’s e-store. The Windows Phone 8 handset is priced at a slightly discounted Rs 14,999, and the website says the phone will be delivered in seven days.

The Lumia 620 is available in all six colours—magenta, green, white, black, cyan and yellow—at the store. The Lumia 620 was announced back in December 2012 and the company had announced a February launch, but missed that target.

The Lumia 620 will sit alongside the new Lumia 720 and the Lumia 520 in the mid-range slot of the company’s smartphone portfolio. We spent a few, brief moments with the 620 when the Lumia 920 was launched and noticed that it runs the Windows Phone 8 OS quite smoothly despite its mid-range leanings.

The Lumia 620 sports a 3.8-inch display with a 480 x 800-pixel resolution, complete with Nokia ClearBlack technology to make it legible in all lighting conditions. Weighing in at just 127g, the Lumia 620 is also easy to carry around, though we must say it’s not the slimmest phone around at 11mm in depth.

It was a pleasant surprise to find a hot-swappable memory card slot under the rear panel. The 620 can support up to 64GB of external memory and comes with 8GB of internal memory. The 1300mAh battery powering this handset should be just about right to ensure at least a full day’s use. A 5-megapixel AF camera with an LED flash adorns the rear, and a secondary VGA camera graces in front.

The Lumia 620 is powered by a dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, an Adreno 305 GPU and has 512MB of RAM. It also supports 3G, and has Wi-Fi. Surprisingly, it also packs NFC, which isn’t usually a feature found on handsets in this price bracket. With features like GLONASS for GPS, along with Nokia Drive and Nokia Maps, the 620 is pretty well loaded

Like the other Lumias, the 620 will also come preloaded with a few imaging and editing apps for the camera. Nokia Camera Lenses and the City Lens app also add a little more value to the handset's worth.

Here are the key specs of the Lumia 620:

  • 3.8-inch TFT LCD ClearBlack WVGA display
  • HSPA, GPRS/EDGE
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, EDR
  • NFC
  • GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS
  • 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera
  • 8GB internal storage, expandable up to 64G
