Gmail update arrives with new abilities

Now users can archive and even delete messages right form notification with the latest update of Gmail for Android.

Google has released a brand new update for its Gmail application on Android devices. With this new update, Gmail users will get a bunch of new features such as the Notification actions for the devices running Google Android Jelly Bean 4.1 and above operating system.

With this new addition users would be able to preview Gmail messages right in the notification and would also be able to delete, reply or archive them as per need without having the need for going to the Gmail application at all.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich users will get performance related improvements. They can search for messages even in the absence of data connection but only with the messages that have been cached by the devices.

For users of older Android OS based devices, the update also brings a number of performance and stability fixes. Google has also issued the API for the 'Lebels' application for developers to make it available for older Android 2.2 OS based devices.
