Android & iOS Skype apps get video messaging facility

Skype premium users will get 20 free messages to roll things in motion.

Microsoft's cross platform chat and video calling service, Skype has announced the roll out of video messaging service for Android and iOS operating system based devices. With this service, Skype users can send fellow users video messages of up to 3 minutes duration. These messages are available for both online as well as offline playback too making it a good new feature for Skypers.

The Skype message is a part of the Skype premium service and initially users will get up to 20 free messages for trial. If they like it they can subscribe to the service for a monthly charge of $4.99 or Rs 270 per month along with other premium features or they can simply opt out if they do not wish to continue with it.

Strangely, Skype for Windows which replaces the good old Live Messenger has not received this feature as of now. Microsoft however promised that the Windows Skype app will get this feature towards the end of April this year, as reported by Verge.

The Skype messages feature has been launched however the feature is only available for the users in the US and the UK. Skype users in other countries will still have to wait a little bit more to avail the service.
