Alcatel launches two Jelly Bean smartphones in India, starting INR 4,499

Alcatel India has silently launched two Android 4.1 Jelly Bean smartphones in its One Touch series. Dubbed as Alcatel OT 4005D and OT 4010E, the phones are now available on Flipkart (2). Priced under INR 5,000, these are the first Android phones in this price-bracket with Jelly Bean on-board; all other Android phones run on Gingerbread.

On paper, Alcatel has just killed the competition with these two launches. Android phones with 4.1 on-board are better than Gingerbread smartphones any day.

Coming to Alcatel OT 4005D, it is available for INR 4,499 and comes with 3.5-inch capacitive display with HVGA resolution, 3.2MP rear camera, 1GHz processor, and 1400 mAh battery. The smartphone also features dual-SIM connectivity, 512MB RAM, 1.4GB of usable internal storage and microSD card slot.

OT 4005D packs all the usual connectivity options like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G.

Surprisingly, Alcatel OT 4010E comes with poorer specs than OT 4005D, but has been priced more. Either there is some issue with the Flipkart listings or I am not sure what Alcatel is thinking. Even the 256MB RAM listed in OT 4010E listing on Flipkart does not make sense, because Jelly Bean can’t really work properly with such low RAM.

OT 4010E features 2MP rear camera, 3.5-inch capacitive display with HVGA resolution, 1GHz processor, 1000 mah battery and dual-SIM connectivity. The phone also comes with 256MB RAM, 1.4GB of usable internal storage and microSD card slot.  The smartphone is available for INR 4,999.

We are looking in these discrepancies and will update the post, as we know more.
