Nokia Pulse now available for Lumia smartphones

The Social location sharing app comes as a welcome new offering for Lumia users, although presently in Beta.

Nokia has released the beta version of its Pulse application for Lumia range of smartphones. The Nokia Pulse is a secure and personalised location sharing application designed and developed in-house by Nokia.

Nokia Pulse, which is still in beta testing phase and is part of Nokia Map suite, is similar to Foursqaure. It allows users to share their location activity with friends but has all the necessary privacy features. Nokia Pulse sends updates on conversations, location and the places being visited by the users to the contacts on the list in a simple yet effective manner. While all this is shared with people within the users' group, no one outside the group can access this information.

The application uses Nokia Maps (Navteq) in the supported device for better location sharing and also finds out nearby places and guides users to the places of their choice. It also has features like messaging and photo sharing.

With Windows operating system, the Nokia Pulse app has also evolved a bit more by adding a host of new features to its kitty. With Windows Phone 8, users of Nokia Pulse app can get turn-by-turn navigation to any place posted in a conversation, along with the ability to receive real time conversation updates while within the app.

Users can share their Pulse message to Facebook or on Twitter. Also one can set any photo within a conversation as a featured photo - all you need is to pin the conversation to Start, your cover photo will appear on the Live Tile. The Nokia Pulse application can be downloaded either from the Nokia beta labs.
