Karbonn launches 4 inch Android smartphone for Rs 4,799

Named as Smart A2, it comes with 4 inch screen, 1 GHz processor and Android 2.3 OS.

Karbonn has silently launched yet another device in the market. Named as Karbonn Smart A2, the Android smartphone comes with a large 4 inch display with WVGA (800x480 resolution) and a 1 GHz processor. It is priced at Rs 4,799 only.

The downside of the phone is that it is based on aging Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and misses out on 3G and GPS connectivity. Also, it has only 256 MB RAM. However, it does get proximity sensor and a large 1750 mAH battery.

The phone has a 3 megapixel camera at the back and a VGA camera in the front. For connectivity, the Karbonn Smart A2 comes with WiFi, Bluetooth and EDGE which is sufficient for most people who buy phones in this range.

The phone makes for an attractive buy as none of the phones below Rs 6,000 mark offer Android 4.0 or 3G or even Proximity sensor. They also come with much smaller battery and misses out on front camera.

Micromax also has similar products in its Ninja range, known as Ninja 4. However, despite having similar specification as Karbonn Smart A2, the Micromax Ninja 4 is costlier by Rs 1,100 but offers 3G connectivity.

Therefore if you are looking for a large screen phone in below Rs 5,000 budget, the Karbonn Smart A2 makes a good choice. The phone is available across several online stores as well as other retail stores.
