Intel partners smartphone makers to launch Android phones at INR 7,000

News agency Press Trust of India (PTI) is reporting that Intel has partnered smartphone manufacturers to launch Android smartphones in the country for as low as INR 7,000. The budget Android phones will be available starting the middle of next year.

“The first handset with Lava that we launched was a premium one. We learnt that it was important to have a portfolio and offer choice to the user. We will not have entry-level handsets but our smartphone range will be priced upwards of Rs 7, 000,” Debjani Ghosh, Intel South Asia Managing Director, Sales and Marketing told PTI.

Till now, we have seen the launch of only one Intel-powered smartphone in the country XOLO X900, which was released earlier this year.
