MapmyIndia launches new 3D maps

MapmyIndia 7.1 version is currently available on all its devices including Carpad Android tablet, however it has not been released for other Android and iOS devices.

India based navigational solution provider, MapmyIndia has announced the release of a newer version of its maps application that comes with full 3D models of cities of India.

The MapmyIndia 7.1 version comes with 7.1 million places of interest, 1.9 million road kilometers, 600,000 towns and villages, 4,751 cities with street-level details, 39 cities with house-level details and 36 cities with full 3D city models.

The new update includes localised navigation and driver assistance features such as extended lane guidance, junction views, sign-posts, live traffic, city guides and rich points of interest, regional voice guidance (in nine Indian languages as well) and regional maps in four Indian languages apart from English.

Extended lane guidance tells the user which lane to get into prior to a turn or exit. Another feature in the new MapmyIndia application is the 'Junction Views' that provides how the upcoming intersection looks in real-life, while 'Sign-posts' show which major landmarks, localities and cities lie in the direction of upcoming turns.

The new maps also show day-time based turn restrictions (based on time and day, whether the particular road is two-way or one-way in a particular directions), and also its 'Live Traffic' feature tells which roads in the city is congested at that time.

Customers can buy MapmyIndia's GPS navigation systems and update the maps to version 7.1 in their existing navigation systems by visiting MapmyIndia's online store: www.mapmyindia.com/store. While the updated version is available for all MapmyIndia personal navigation devices including the Android based Carpad, it is not available right now in the Google Play store, or iOS iTunes store. However, the company says that will update these applications as well in due course of time.
