SICT to launch Android smartphones by September

After feature phones, SICT has set its eye on entry level market and plans to launch a range of Android devices.

SICT, the Indian mobile brand which is currently into feature phone market, plans to enter smartphone and tablet market by September this year.

Ashwini Kumar, chief operating officer of SICT told The Mobile Indian "We plan to launch a range of Android phones and tablets in the Indian market shortly. Initially we will launch three models, but will add to that number shortly. We have got a good response for your feature phone range and we are hopeful of a similar response for our smartphones and tablets."

He added, "The smartphone will be based on the Android 4.0 operating system. We have already completed the testing for both the phone and the tablet and are finalising the pricing, after which the products will hit the market".

The tablet will also be based on Android 4.0 and will come with 3G SIM support. Almost all the Indian brands including Spice, Micromax, Karbonn, Lava, iBall have their own set of Android smartphones and tablets. And all of them claim to have got good consumer response, which is the reason why SITC also sees a good opportunity.

SICT is a relatively new brand and began selling feature phones only last year with distribution channel in Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and North Eastern states.
