Sony starts roll-out of ICS update for Xperia mini

Sony has now turned their attention to the Xperia mini and has officially announced on their blog that the update is now rolling out in phases so if your SI number matches the one in the list, there’s a good chance you’ll get it. Here’s a little excerpt from makers themselves, “The Ice Cream Sandwich software update for 2011 Xperia Smartphone’s is now being rolled out. The update is released in batches, and below you will find links to each phones list of all the currently released ICS software’s. Since there are minor differences in the software depending on product, country and operator we have a unique identifier that we call Sales Item (SI). “

During the launch of the phone, Steve Walker, Head of Marketing, Sony Ericsson said, “We wanted to provide consumers even greater choice across the Xperia range, while building on the success of the original mini series. These turbo-charged smartphones now contain even more power, enhanced functionality, a larger screen and premium features unique to Sony Ericsson. They are packed full of features, making them a perfect choice for consumers looking for all the benefits of Android and Sony in a beautiful and easy to use compact form factor.” The Xperia mini also features social network integration such as Facebook inside Xperia. This integrates social connections throughout the phone, by making Facebook immediately accessible from the most used areas of the phone such as the picture gallery, music player, phonebook and calendar.

Some of the specifications of the phone include:
3-inch, capacitive touchscreen with a 480 x 320 pixel resoluton
3G, EDGE/GPRS, WiFi

Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and USB 2.0
