Microsoft Releases SkyDrive Desktop App And Updates Mobiles Apps [Updates]

Microsoft is taking cloud storage seriously, and they are showing that by releasing a new SkyDrive app for both Mac and PC. They also issued a new update for their already released mobile apps. The Windows and Mac version are both available now for free. The desktop version of the app works very similarly to the desktop version of Dropbox. You can add files to folder, and they will be uploaded the cloud. Just like Dropbox, you can use SkyDrive.com to get access to your files.

Users receive 7GB of storage for free, and Microsoft has added a number of paid options for users who are looking to get more space to store their files. Compared to many cloud storage solutions out there, 7GB is a lot of free space.

The Windows version of the client will run on Windows 8, 7, and Vista based machines. The Mac version supports any version of OS X. This gives users the flexibility to run SkyDrive on any newer machine they own. If you are using an older version of Windows you will have to use SkyDrive’s website  to manage your files.

As part of the SkyDrive news, they also updated their iOS and Windows phone apps. The update makes it easier to manage your files and provides better options for sharing.

To download any of the SkyDrive apps, head to the SkyDrive apps page.
