HTC ChaCha now available for under Rs.10,000 on Saholic.com

Back in the August of 2011, HTC decided to go in a whole new direction with their mobile phone fleet and introduced their first and only candy bar, QWERTY keypad equipped Android smartphone, the HTC ChaCha. The phone also went by the alias, the Facebook Phone, thanks to the heavy Facebook integration provided by the world’s largest social network.

Taking on the characteristics of a touch-and-type style design and UI, the HTC ChaCha with its little Facebook button at the bottom didn’t make the overall impact that was probably expected. Although the handset did reasonably well for itself at launch and a little after, the company decided that it just didn’t compete too well with the likes of larger touchscreen devices, obviously offering better viewing angles.

At the time of its launch it was priced at about Rs.15,000 and slipped down the price gauge to about Rs. 11,800. The latest price drop will make the touch and type Android-powered device a little more attractive, as it now falls under the Rs.10,000 range. Now for Rs.9,699, the HTC ChaCha, complete with HTC’s proprietary Sense UI (version 2.1) and Google’s Android Gingerbread (v2.3) is available for purchase on saholic.com with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty and bill.

Featuring an 800MHz processor under the hood with 512 MB RAM, the HTC ChaCha has also made it quite easy to update your Facebook account with all kinds of details from sharing weblinks, media etc., with a simple click of a button. The Facebook button at the bottom of the keypad lets you share all kinds of details that are on the screen with your registered FB account. The full QWERTY keypad with individually separated keys, makes typing quite comfortable.

Other features incorporated into the HTC ChaCha include:

  1. 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 480 x 320 pixel resolution
  2. 3G, EDGE, WiFi with Hot Spot creation
  3. GPS with A-GPS support for Google Maps
  4. Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and USB 2.0
  5. 5MP autofocus camera with an LED flash and a secondary front facing VGA camera
  6. Stereo FM radio
  7. microSD card for up to 32GB

With a price reduction like this, the HTC ChaCha could regain some popularity, especially with hardcore Facebook users.
