BSNL and Bharat Berry launch push e-mail service.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will now provide push e-mail services to its subscribers all over India. The state-owned company has partnered with Bharat Berry Technologies for starting this new service.

A spokesman for BSNL confirmed the India launch saying, "After the successful launch of its Bharat Berry services with MTNL Delhi and MTNL Mumbai a couple of months back, now Bharat Berry services will be available for all BSNL GSM mobile subscribers across India."

Most of us will be familiar with push e-mail services, but for those not in the know, push e-mail enables users to instantly receive new emails. It’s an active transfer connection and generally works quicker than the normal connections that network operators provide. BSNL and Bharat Berry has launched this service across all operating systems including BlackBerry, Symbian, Android, Windows Mobile and J2ME. The charges are Rs.80 for the combo pack and Rs.50 for individual services.

For enabling access to all services, including e-mails and PIM (personal information manager), sync users will be charged Rs.80 a month for the combo pack, while the individual services will be available for Rs.50 each per month for both prepaid and postpaid GSM customers. The service has been made available for both, 2G as well as 3G customers. Users need to send an SMS with "SUB BB" on 51123 and follow basic steps to activate this service.
