Samsung Wave smartphones to get Bada 2.0 update by Q4 2011

Samsung had announced three new Bada 2.0-equipped handsets before the launch of IFA 2011 which were the Wave 3, Wave M and Wave Y. Samsung’s Bada operating system has been featured on the Wave line of handsets and except for the three latest models, all other Wave handsets had earlier versions of Bada OS. Samsung looks to change that and have announced through Twitter that Bada 2.0 will be available on all Wave handsets from the last quarter of 2011.

The tweet states that this rollout will initially start in Europe and then gradually update throughout the rest of the world. A later tweet stated that though this upgrade will take place on all Samsung Wave handsets, the features available could be different depending on the specifications of the device such as CPU, memory size, etc. According to a report by unwiredview, one may be able to enjoy all the features of Bada 2.0 if they have the Wave I S8500 or Wave II S 8530 handsets. However, cheaper Bada handsets like Wave 525 and Wave 533 may not get all the features of Bada 2.0. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long for the rollout to reach our shores after the European release.
